At the age of 29, Scott is a 10-year pro. A former WBA super bantamweight world champion, he won the WBA “interim” title in June, 2012, and made one successful title defense. He was elevated to WBA “world” champion in 2013, and made six successful title defenses.
He moved up to the featherweight division in December, 2016.
Scott is making his United States debut in this fight. He has fought 36 times in his native England and one time in Monaco.
In his last fight on November 4 in Monte Carlo, Monaco, Scott won by sixth-round TKO against former European featherweight champion Oleg Yefimovych.
The Ring’s Tom Gray reported [excerpts]: Scott Quigg continues his quest to become a two-weight world titleholder.
The Englishman, who is now campaigning at featherweight, did what was necessary to best Oleg Yefimovych, pounding the Ukrainian to a sixth-round defeat at the Casino De Monte Carlo. The official time was 0:50.
Quigg absorbed a few counter shots in the early going, but when he upped the pace, Yefimovych was found to be out of his depth.
A big right hand rocked the Ukrainian in the third and the punishment intensified as the bout progressed. Yefimovych was very close to being stopped in the fourth when Quigg launched a brutal two-fisted attack, but he roared in defiance as the bell rang to end the session.
It was only a matter of time, however, and Quigg continued to tee off with big shots for the remainder of the contest. The stoppage was prompted by a solid left hook, right hand combination to the head. Quigg did become the first man to stop Yefimovych.

During the build-up to the fight, Scott said, “This is a fight that I’m really looking forward to. It’s a great fight. I have a lot of respect for Oscar and his team. We’ve been in the gym together in the past, helping each other prepare for a fight. They are good people.
“This is a great opportunity for me – making my U.S. debut on a great platform on ESPN – and I’m confident on March 10th I’ll become world champion again.
“I want to be the very best and am a student of the game. I will work and work, and Freddie is helping me to improve. I know my fan base is still back home, but I think this move has benefited me.
“It should be a great fight. We shared the ring and had some sparring last year when I was preparing for Viorel Simion, and if those four or five spars are anything to go by, then the fans are in for a real cracker.
“It’s a massive opportunity, and becoming a two-weight world champion would probably be the biggest achievement of my career. I’ve always wanted to fight in America, and the StubHub Center is a great venue.”
